Blue whiting is a small deep-sea fish from the northeast Atlantic. It is mainly processed into fishmeal, fish oil and surimi, but also traded as a food fish. Key fishing grounds lie west of the British Isles and around the Faroes. Micromesistius poutassou. Also known as Blue Whiting, Merlan bleu, Blauer Wittling, Blauwe Wijting.
